UK: Department for Education and Skills Selects Autonomy
Department for Education and Skills Selects Autonomy: "Autonomy Corporation plc a global leader in infrastructure software for the enterprise, today announced that the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) has selected Autonomy to support a website and knowledge portal for its Building Schools for the Future (BSF) program. BSF is the single biggest school buildings investment venture and aims to rebuild or renew nearly every secondary school in England over a 10-15 year period, beginning in 2005-06.
Schools represent the hopes and aspirations of every community. However, too often they are hampered by buildings that provide a real barrier to effective teaching. The aim of the BSF program is therefore to provide local education authorities (LEAs) and schools with significant funds to spend on improving their secondary school buildings. Autonomy powers a comprehensive knowledge portal for up to 2000 named users and a public website for Building Schools for the Future, supporting the management and dissemination of information. The information resources managed by Autonomy support decision-makers and stakeholders, enabling them to exchange knowledge, recognize opportunities and pre-empt potential issues for future building planning. The website, http://www.bsf.gov.uk/, also provides a wealth of general information, allowing the public to keep abreast of local and national developments surrounding the project."
